HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday said the government was committed to resolving teachers’ issues and sought their active cooperation in making the education system in Andhra Pradesh the best in the country.
The Minister was addressing teachers who received inter-district transfers and language pandits. The teachers thanked Mr. Lokesh for the smooth handling of inter-district transfers (mutual and spouse cases) and for resolving the long-pending promotion issues of language pandits.
Mr. Lokesh said the first year of reforms in the Education Department had been completed, and the focus in the next four years would be on improving outcomes. Unlike the previous government, which he alleged treated students like “drop boxes” and manipulated figures, his administration would ensure transparency, he said.
Calling for teachers’ cooperation, he urged them to concentrate on improving students’ performance, which he admitted was currently lagging. Efforts were underway to address these gaps, he added.
The Minister said the DSC recruitment process had been completed within 150 days, and the recent teacher transfers were conducted transparently. He requested everyone’s continued support to transform the education system.
The teachers said they planned to launch a State-wide “Thank You Lokesh” campaign to express their gratitude for the transparent transfer process and promotions for language pandits. However, Mr. Lokesh said such programmes were unnecessary, adding that “teaching students well is the greatest gift.”
MLAs Alapati Rajendra Prasad and Bhoomireddy Ramgopal Reddy, among others, were present.
