All vehicles entering the airport premises were thoroughly checked by armed police personnel. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed additional manpower at all entry points. Strict access control measures were in place in and around the airport, police sources said.

Meanwhile, police teams comprising officers and personnel from the 12 police districts of Greater Chennai City are conducting intensive surveillance and vehicle checks at key locations, inspecting suspicious persons and vehicles as part of heightened security measures.

A senior police officer said vehicle checks at key locations are regularly conducted in the city to prevent anti-social elements and to prevent crime. There is no specific threat to the city so far, he added.
