Chairman of the 20-Point Programme Implementation Committee Lanka Dinakar on Saturday (March 21, 2026) said that the AMRUT scheme, taken up at an outlay of ₹88.41 crore, will change the face of Kavali region in Andhra Pradesh, bringing relief to the town from its perennial drinking water scarcity.

Addressing the media at Kavali in Nellore district, Mr. Dinakar said the project would be brought into force soon and a pylon to this effect would be unveiled at the earliest. The scheme launched at the initiative of the then Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu was kept aside by the erstwhile regime in the State.

“Having relaunched it, the present government will soon offer pure drinking water supply to every household soon”, Mr. Dinakar said.

Earlier, he reviewed the progress of the AMRUT scheme with Civic Commissioner Sravan Kumar, engineering officials and asked them to expedite the project. He also inspected the pylon kept at the Tahsildar’s office.
