The District Sports Authority, Visakhapatnam, will conduct the district-level-competitions-cum-selections of the Amaravati Championship-2026 on August 14 at the SAAP Integrated Sports Complex, Kommadi, said R. June Gallyot, District Sports Development Officer, on Tuesday.
The championship is being organised by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, as part of the celebration marking National Sports Day, observed on August 29, to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
The district authority had earlier conducted Assembly constituency-level selections across the district’s six Assembly constituencies from July 27 to 31. Only players selected at the constituency level are eligible.
The district-level event will feature 12 disciplines: archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, basketball, chess, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, weightlifting, volleyball and yoga. Competitions will be held in Under-17 and Under-23 boys and girls categories.
Participants have been instructed to carry their Aadhaar card, proof of study and the first page of their bank passbook for verification.
