AIIMS Mangalagiri launches outreach vehicle on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, observed World Hospice and Palliative Care Day on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) by inaugurating a new outreach vehicle, public health education stalls in the OPD area and launching the ‘Caregiver Guidebook’ cover page.

At present, over 300 patients with chronic and advanced illnesses are registered under AIIMS Mangalagiri Outreach Palliative Care Services, receiving continuous medical, nursing, and emotional support, said a realese issued by the institute.

According to the press note, the Palliative Care Unit of the Department of Anesthesiology at AIIMS Mangalagiri continues to extend compassionate, multidisciplinary care through outpatient, inpatient, and home-based services across the region. In observance of this year’s theme, ‘Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care,’ the institute’s Executive Director, Ahanthem Santa Singh, launched an outreach vehicle under the CSR initiative by GVS Projects Private Limited, Vijayawada.

The public health education stalls in the OPD area were inaugurated to create awareness on palliative nursing, physiotherapy, dietary support, and other holistic care services.
