The Chairman of Naruvi Hospitals G.V. Sampath said on Wednesday that joint replacement surgeries are performed using the American-made CORI robot (CORI Robot – USA) at the hospital as it helps in faster recovery of patients.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Sampath said that traditionally, patients undergoing joint replacement surgery will recover in three months. On the other hand, CORI robot technology used for such surgery at the hospital enables patients to recover in a month. More importantly, the extent of the pain is also significantly minimal, he said.

Mr. Sampath also highlighted that the joint replacement surgery at the hospital is cost-effective with patients from remote areas in Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, and from places, including Chittoor, Tirupati, Kadapa, and Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh.

Patients from abroad also visit the hospital for the surgery and return home in good health, he said.

On future plans, Mr. Sampath said that after the successful completion of 1,000 joint replacement surgeries, the hospital plans to set up a bone marrow transplant center for curing blood cancer and a fertility centre that meets international standards soon.

On the occasion, Anitha Sampath, vice chairperson, Naruvi Hospitals, Nithin Sampath, General Manager, Naruvi Hospitals, and Dr. Vernon Lee, Head, Department of Joint Replacement Surgery, Naruvi Hospitals, were present.
