The Andhra Pradesh government has drawn an action plan, as part of the ‘One Family-One Entrepreneur’ policy, to make about one lakh young entrepreneurs from the MEPMA and DWCRA groups across the State, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said while virtually inaugurating the Smart Street Vending Market at Mypadu Gate Centre in Nellore on Saturday.
Addressing the beneficiaries, who have set up shops in the Smart Street, through a video conference from Amaravati, he said, “About 120 women in Nellore have become entrepreneurs. Congratulations to all of you who have done street trading for more than 18 years and now have state-of-the-art shops in the Smart Street.”
“The government has set up these shops with state-of-the-art facilities at a cost of ₹ 7 crore. It has set up 120 shops within 30 modular containers, providing an opportunity for street vendors to do permanent business. We have allocated these shops to women and differently-abled persons in a very transparent manner,” Mr. Naidu said.
“The beneficiaries have the convenience of doing business through state-of-the-art shops now. I am happy to know about the facilities such as roof-top seating and WiFi facilities,” Mr. Naidu said.
He lauded the efforts of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister P. Narayana, MA&UD staff and MEPMA team. He stressed the need for more such innovative ideas to encourage entrepreneurship in the State.
