Members of the Goud (Gammalla), Kalali and Goundla communities have submitted a representation to the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Commission seeking that these communities be brought under a single nomenclature, “Goud/Gowda”, and that caste verification certificates be issued accordingly.

Following the request, the Commission convened a meeting on December 3, 2025, with representatives of the Goud or Gowda communities to hear their submissions. However, the Commission observed that no representatives from the Gammalla, Kalali or Goundla communities, either individually or through recognised caste associations, attended the meeting to present their views.

In view of the absence of these communities and to ensure a transparent and inclusive process, the Commission has invited objections or comments from members of the Gammalla, Kalali and Goundla communities on the proposed grouping. Objections, if any, should be submitted in writing to the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Commission, Flat No. 48, 6th Cross Road, Municipal Employees Colony, Vijayawada, on or before January 6, 2026.

The announcement was issued by the Commission’s Member Secretary, S. Tanuja Rani, who said the exercise was aimed at eliciting the views of all concerned sections before any decision is taken on the proposal.
