The Congress on Thursday (October 16, 2025) released its first list of 48 candidates for Bihar polls, retaining Bihar Congress State President Rajesh Ram from Kutumba and CLP Shakeel Ahmed Khan from Kadwa assembly seat. The list also figures five women candidates.

This is the first official announcement of the candidates by the INDIA bloc.

The first list of Bihar Congress party has retained its 11 sitting MLAs, which includes Bhagalpur, Kadwa, Manihari, Muzaffarpur, Rajapakar, Buxar, Rajpur, Kutumba, Kargahar, Hisua, and Aurangabad.

The party has fielded Shashant Shekhar from Patna Sahib and Kaushlendra Kumar from Nalanda assembly seat.

Out of the 48 candidates, 24 names are for the first phase polling and another 24 names are for the second phase. The list also includes 4 Muslim candidates, 9 Scheduled Caste candidates, and 1 candidate from the Scheduled Tribe.

The party has also fielded Bijendra Chaudhary from Muzaffarpur, Om Prakash Garg from Gopalganj, Amita Bhushan from Begusarai, Dr. Chandan Yadav from Khagaria, Sanjay Kumar Tiwari alias Munna Tiwari from Buxar, Anand Shankar Singh from Aurangabad and Arun Kumar Bind from Harnaut assembly seats.

The last date for filing nominations for the first phase of polls is October 17, while that for the second phase is October 20.
