The Central government has approved ₹166 crore for the expansion and strengthening of AYUSH medical services in Andhra Pradesh for the current financial year, said Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav.

Interacting with students of the Government AYUSH College at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, on Friday, the Minister said the funds would be utilised for setting up two Ayurveda medical colleges in Dharmavaram and Kakinada, and a Unani medical college in Rayalaseema.

He noted that between 2014 and 2024, the State government had received ₹120.17 crore from the Centre, most of which came during the TDP’s tenure. Of this, only ₹38.09 crore was released to the State AYUSH Department during the YSRCP period. However, after the formation of the TDP-led NDA government, the department received ₹83.23 crore in 2024–25 and ₹165.65 crore in 2025–26 — the highest allocation in two consecutive years, the Minister added.

Mr. Yadav also announced several new projects in the State. He said work on establishing the Yoga Research Centre at Prathipadu in Guntur district would be expedited, and admissions would begin in the Naturopathy College at Visakhapatnam for the academic year 2026–27. The Minister further said the Centre had sanctioned ₹52.35 crore for setting up 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals each in Srikakulam, Prakasam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, NTR, Guntur, and Tirupati districts.
