A civilian was killed in an explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gulmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said.
Officials identified the victim as Zabir Ahmad Bajad, son of Mohammad Rafiq Bajad, a resident of Galibal, Chandoosa in Baramulla district.
Initial official assessment suggested that the civilian died after an unexploded shell went off. However, the Army and the police could not provide details about the exact circumstances leading to the blast.
The unexploded shell was apparently lying close to the Asha Post near the LoC in Gulmarg.
