Heavy to very heavy rain lashed Mysuru and surrounding areas through Thursday night. While the rains helped bridge the monsoon deficiency, there were also incidents of waterlogging in low-lying areas.
According to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC), Poorigali in Malavalli taluk of Mandya district received 175.45 mm of rainfall, while Harave in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district received 131.5 mm during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Friday.
Other places that received widespread rains included Agara in Yelandur taluk of Chamarajanagar district which received 97 mm of rainfall while Nitturu in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district recorded 58.5 mm.
The rainfall was uniform and widespread across Mysuru district and H.D. Kote recorded 44.1 mm of rainfall, while Antarasanthe in H.D. Kote, record 27 mm. Hunsur town and surrounding areas in Mysuru district received 58.5 mm of rainfall while Bilikere (40.6 mm), Gowdaragere (76.5), Hanagodu (33.4 mm) were other centres with significant rains in Hunsur taluk.
In K.R.Nagar, Hebbalu received 91 mm of rainfall, while Hosagarahara recorded 75.7 mm during the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Friday. Mysuru city and surrounding areas received 63.7 mm of rainfall, while Elavala, Jayapura, Varuna were other centres with significantly high rains, according to KSNDMC whose data indicates that not a single taluk was left unaffected by rains on Thursday through Friday morning.
