The Mattanchery police have arrested two youth for allegedly attacking three police personnel while they were on duty on Sunday (October 5, 2025).

The arrested are Ansil Shah, 27, and Shinas Saifudheen, 28, both residents of Mattancherry. According to police, the duo allegedly attacked sub-inspector Jimmy Jose and civil police officers Vineesh and Sunil V.S. while they were in Mattancherry following a tip-off about drug sales in the area recently. The officers are part of the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force.

Both Ansil Shah and Shinas are history-sheeters, booked in seven and nine cases respectively, the police said.
