After filing an FIR against Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Putta Sudhakar for alleged abduction of a businessman from R.R. Nagar on Sunday, based on his wife’s complaint, the Bengaluru City Police on Monday clarified that the businessman Raviprakash, 65, was not abducted, but was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with a case registered at Mydukur Police Station in Andhra Pradesh.

According to the complaint, Sabina and her husband were travelling in their car around 10.15 a.m. on August 30, when four vehicles, allegedly without number plates, blocked their way. She alleged that 10-15 men pulled Prakash out of the car, assaulted and dragged him into another vehicle.

According to the FIR, the men dragged Dr. Raviprakash out, assaulted him and forcibly took him away in one of the vehicles. Ms. Sabina alleged that she was also assaulted when she tried to intervene. She claimed that one of the accused kicked her in the stomach, slapped her and threatened her and her family with dire consequences. She further alleged that the entire incident was captured on the CCTV cameras installed at their residence.

Later, when the family attempted to lodge a complaint, one of the vehicles allegedly returned, and its occupants threatened them against approaching the police. Police subsequently detained a person found in the vehicle and took him to Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station. The FIR names Putta Sudhakar and unidentified persons as accused in the alleged abduction of the complainant’s husband. Dr. Raviprakash and Putta Sudhakar were involved in a long-standing legal dispute over a 14-acre property in RR Nagar, family said.

However, senior police officials said their inquiry established that Dr. Raviprakash had been taken by the Andhra Pradesh police. Officials said he is the fifth accused in a case registered at Mydukur Police Station. Further details regarding the case and his detention are awaited.
