Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurating the Ramagiri solar power project from Banswara in Rajasthan on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated the 300-MW solar power plant at Ramagiri in Sri Sathya Sai district. It was set up in 1,047 acres by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

Presiding over the programme, district Collector A. Shyam Prasad highlighted the project’s immense potential.

Addressing the officials and farmers, the Collector said Andhra Pradesh had already emerged as a leader in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector with the generation of nearly 5,000 MW of solar power.

“The Ramagiri project will scale up production to 10,000 MW. This positions Ramagiri as a landmark in producing clean energy,” Mr. Shyam Prasad said. The Collector further said the project would be a boon to the district’s youth in the form of potential employment generation.

The Collector unveiled commemorative plaques along with the officials of the SECI, and underlined the strategic importance of the Ramagiri project.

“The project will also contribute to the community welfare programmes, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development of the region,” he said.
