One dead in Agartala blast; State govt. orders probe

Tripura government has constituted a fact-finding committee a day after a mysterious blast damaged an apartment building at Shankar Chowmuhani area in Agartala, which killed one person and injured some.

Subhrajit Choudhury, a resident, died of burns on Friday (June 26, 2026).

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday (June 26, 2026) visited the site. He interacted with the residents of the building and listened to their problems.

The blast is said to have taken place at the residence of Subhrajit Choudhury, who suffered 90% burns. Eight apartments, including his were damaged.

The Chief Minister conveyed his condolence to the bereaved family of Subhrajit Choudhury and assured them that the incident would be investigated.

The inquiry panel would be led by the Secretary, Urban Develop Department, with the Director of Fire Services, the west Tripura Superintendent of Police, the Chief Engineer (PWD-Buildings) and the Agartala Municipal Commissioner as members. The committee has been directed to submit a report within seven days.
