New Superintendents of Police assume charge in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts

Vivekananda Shukla on Wednesday took charge as the Superintendent of Police of Cuddalore district, after his stint as the SP of Tiruvallur district.

The new SP said that priority would be on visible policing and the unaddressed grievances of both residents and police personnel would be resolved. Strict action would be taken against illicit liquor and smuggling of contrabands. The existing police force in Cuddalore district will either be strengthened with increased manpower or improvised for better efficiency, he said.

Mr. Shukla said the performance of the Singappen special force would be reviewed regularly. The level of confidence instilled in women and children regarding their safety will be assessed and improved.

Priority to public grievances

S. Madhivanan assumed office as the Superintendent of Police of Villupuram district. He replaced V.V. Sai Praneeth who has been transferred and posted as SP, Tiruvallur district.

Mr. Madhivanan said that complaints received from the public would be accorded priority, and prompt and appropriate action would be taken. Complaints related to crimes against women and children will be treated as a priority, and swift action will be taken.

The SP said that strict legal action will be enforced against those involved in the sale and supply of drugs, and action will be initiated against offenders. The district police will collaborate with schools and colleges to conduct awareness programmes for students and youths on drug abuse.

The current traffic conditions across Villupuram district will be reviewed and traffic management measures will be introduced, he added.
