Temperatures drop as dry weather prevails over T.N.

As dry weather prevailed over the State, temperatures went down in many places early on Sunday morning.

Chennaiites woke up to a cold morning as the Nungambakkam observatory recorded 19.7 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam 19 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in both these places in the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Sunday was 30.5 degree Celsius. 

Tiruttani in nearby Tiruvallur district recorded a colder morning at 15.5 degrees Celsius in the same period. Valparai recorded a minimum of eight degrees Celsius and so did Coonoor; Udhagamandalam and Kodaikanal registered seven degrees Celsius each.

Erode recorded the highest maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius over Tamil Nadu. Dharmapuri recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 15.2 degrees Celsius in the plains of the State, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) here. 

Minimum temperatures were below normal by one degree Celsius to three degrees Celsius at most places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area. The RMC further said that conditions were becoming favourable for cessation of northeast monsoon rains over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe and adjoining areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka during the next 48 hours. It forecast dry weather over the State for the next six days.
