UNESCO workshop on International Day of Light inspires engineering students

Hyderabad

The Telangana Science Fair Academy (TSFA), in collaboration with UNESCO, organised a one-day workshop for undergraduate engineering students at MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT), in commemoration of the International Day of Light.

More than 125 students from various engineering colleges participated in the workshop and presented innovative projects focused on light, lasers and optics. The event showcased the transformative impact of light-based research and technologies, while encouraging students to pursue innovation and scientific inquiry.

Addressing the gathering, MLRIT Chairman Marri Laxman Reddy said that the institution has always encouraged such academic and research-oriented events and would continue to support them in the future.

Speakers including Dr. Raju Dandu, Professor, Kansas State University, USA; Dr. D. Narayana Rao, Emeritus Professor, University of Hyderabad; Dr. Sulthan Mohiddin Shariff, Scientist-F, ARCI emphasised that initiatives like these play a crucial role in nurturing young minds, promoting interdisciplinary learning, and strengthening India’s contribution to global scientific and sustainable development effort.
