Heavy rainfall damaged crops in some areas in Bagalkot, Vijayapura and Belagavi districts on Monday.

In Muddebihal of Vijayapura district, rainwater entered hoses in low-lying areas in Sangameshwar Nagar.

The police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and cleared it.

They also removed some large pipes that were obstructing the free flow of water in the roadside gutters.

Fire fighters also sought the assistance of local residents in pumping out water from Vasavi Hospital. Trader Hussein Sab Bilagi complained that water entered his house and damaged foodgrains and vegetables stored inside.

In Mudhol, Ranna Belagali and Mahalingpur, some trees were uprooted.

Officers were busy clearing them up.

HESCOM officials removed some electricity poles that were uprooted. They were fixed by evening, the officials said.

Some villages in Belagavi and Khanapur taluks witnessed heavy rainfall for some time. Farmers complained of crop damage in these areas.
