Two persons were killed and four others injured after a car rammed into the rear of a lorry near Kothakota flyover in Puthalapattu of Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district early on Sunday (March 22, 2026).

The deceased were identified as Sathish, 50, and his wife Bhagyalakshmi, 45, both residents of Mandya district in Karnataka. The family was travelling to Tirumala in a taxi when the accident occurred.

The Puthalapattu circle police said the car, bearing a Karnataka registration number, hit a 10-wheeler lorry as the driver reportedly felt drowsy. Due to the impact of the crash, two occupants of the car were flung out from the broken windows of the car.

Four other occupants of the car, including three children — Mahalakshmi, 12, Pavani, 10, and Thusara, 4, — and a relative, Shasank (23) sustained minor injuries.

The injured were shifted to the Government Hospital in Chittoor, while the bodies were moved to the mortuary.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
