Sharing some advice with candidates who have cleared the civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday said that it was not necessary for officials to be pretentious but they should be grounded in their approach.

During a felicitation organised by the Tamil Nadu government for successful candidates, Mr. Stalin said: “There is not necessary for officials to be pretentious. Only if they stay grounded in their approach, their reputation will live long.” He appealed to them to treat people with love, humbleness and with social justice in their outlook.

Wishing them a career in which they will serve the country towards its development, Mr. Stalin hoped that each of the candidates would make Tamil Nadu proud. As they become officers and become busy, they may not find time for rest adequately, the Chief Minister said. “My personal advice to you is, even if you have to take care of the country, you have to take care of your family too.”

Regardless of how busy officials are, they need to spend at least five minutes to take care of their parents, life partner and children, Mr. Stalin said. “At least you should make a phone call to enquire with care if they have taken their medicine.” This care and love would immemsely help the officials in their career development, the Chief Minister said.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers P.K. Sekarbabu and N. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj; Chennai Mayor R. Priya; Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials were also present.
