Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will lay the foundation stone for the Marine Eco City project of the Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) at Marine Drive here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister will launch the project at a meeting to be held at the KTDC Convention centre, Bolgatty, at 4 p.m. Revenue Minister K. Rajan will preside over the meeting.
The mega infrastructure project, with the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) as project management consultant, will come up on 17.9 acres owned by the KSHB at an estimated cost of ₹3,509 crore.
In its first phase, a 28-storey commercial-cum-residential complex and a seven-storey parking facility are planned to be constructed on 3.16 acres.
A convention centre with capacity for 2,000 people and a five-star hotel complex will come up on 2.6 acres in the second phase. The third phase will have six residential towers with 30 floors. twenty-seven cents of land will be left for water conservation and 65 cents for a waterbody. Fifty per cent of the plot will be retained as open green zone, the KSHB said in a statement.
Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, Hibi Eden, MP; K.N. Unnikrishnan, MLA; T.J. Vinod, MLA; Mayor V.K. Minimol and Rajya Sabha member P.P. Suneer will be among those attending the function.
A memorandum of understanding for the project was signed between the KSHB and NBCC in September 2023. The project will come up near the BPCL housing complex at Marine Drive.
