Nearly a month after panic buying disrupted fuel supplies in Hyderabad, long queues of vehicles spilled over into traffic on main roads, and temporary closures were again witnessed at several petrol pumps across the city on the morning of Monday, (April 27, 2026) as outlets struggled to cope with a sudden surge in demand.
At a Bharat Petroleum outlet in the Shaikpet area, heavy crowds were seen as early as 9 a.m., with two-wheelers and cars lining up beyond the premises and onto adjoining roads. Employees soon began restricting entry, and within an hour, the station stopped allowing additional vehicles. Several nearby pumps followed a similar approach, and by around 10.30 a.m., most outlets in the area had temporarily shut operations citing low stock.
