Kerala SIR: Final roll sees jump in number of overseas electors

The final electoral roll published on Saturday under Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Kerala has recorded a commendable increase in the number of overseas electors. Kerala now has 2,23,558 overseas electors (NRI voters), of whom 1,90,090 are men, 33,458 are women and ten are transgender voters.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, NRI voters had numbered 93,415 in the State.

Kozhikode has the highest number of overseas electors (57,679), followed by Kannur (52,163) and Malappuram (39,501). Thrissur has 22,249 electors in this category. Idukki has the lowest number (607). The overseas electors in other districts are as follows: Kasaragod 11,462, Wayanad 2,129, Palakkad 8,300, Ernakulam 7,426, Kottayam 3,124, Alappuzha 3,472, Pathanamthitta 3,685, Kollam 6,876 and Thiruvananthapuram 4,885.

During the ,2021 Assembly elections, Kerala had 93,415 NRI voters. Among them, 6,086 were women, 87,318 were men while 11 were transgender voters.

At the time of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, 87,648 NRI voters were registered on the Kerala rolls.

During the the Special Summary Revision in January 2025, the NRI voter numbers in the State had shown an increase to 90,124.
