The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Amaravati’s iconic towers has directed the officials to appoint department-wise coordinators and gather inputs on space requirements before finalising allocations in the proposed Secretariat Complex.

The sub-committee, constituted to decide space allocation for various departments in the General Administration Department (GAD) tower and four Head of the Department (HOD) towers, met at the Secretariat on Friday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, MA&UD Minister P. Narayana said discussions covered construction design, parking facilities, and the total number of State-level employees.

He said officials were instructed to collect department-wise data on staff strength, space needs and required amenities. While the earlier designs between 2014 and 2019 envisaged 52.72 lakh sft of built-up area with 31.71 lakh sft carpet area for about 26,700 employees, the committee will reassess the present requirements. At present, there are 39,882 sanctioned posts, he said.

The committee also decided to examine the Secretariats in Hyderabad, Naya Rayapur and others for reference. Another meeting is scheduled for Monday.

Ministers Payyavula Keshav, Nadendla Manohar, Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, B.C. Janardhan Reddy and Satya Kumar Yadav participatd in the meeting.
