‘Govt. neglecting students by sitting over release of fee reimbursement bills’

Former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T. Harish Rao criticised the negligence of the A. Revanth Reddy government in the matter of releasing funds for the fee reimbursement scheme as there has been no release of funds since the Congress took over the administration of the State.

As a result, several private degree, post graduate, education (B.Ed, M.Ed), management (BBA and MBA, computer applications (MCA) and engineering colleges were reaching a condition of closure, affecting the future of about 13 lakh students pursuing the courses, the BRS leader said in a statement on Sunday. The Chief Minister who is holding the portfolio of Education too is maintaining silence despite the students announcing protests, relay fasts and other forms of protests from Monday (September 15).

He noted that the government was calling tenders for works worth ₹20,000 crore for the future city project, ₹7,000 crore for getting Godavari water from Mallannasagar reservoir, another ₹7,000 crore for flyover and high-level bridges in GHMC, ₹5,000 crore for six-lane road to future city, tenders worth ₹10,000 crore in HMDA, ₹16,000 crore in R&B, ₹25,000 crore for integrated schools, ₹4,400 crore for Kondangal Lift Irrigation Scheme and ₹1.5 lakh crore for the Musi river front development.

Alleging that the Revanth Reddy government was calling tenders for works worth ₹2.5 lakh crore, Mr. Harish Rao said he was neglecting the existing residential schools and not clearing fee reimbursement bills just to make easy money in the form of commissions.
