Political parties and candidates are currently engaged in the slicing and dicing of Form 17 booth-level data – bringing together intelligence and knowledge of booth agents, speculative prediction, and hope – to prepare themselves for what could unfold on counting day on May 4.

After the EVMs were sealed and sent to the strong room, the booth agents of established political parties – the AIADMK, DMK, VCK, PMK, BJP, and also TVK – reportedly sent a report of not just the votes polled in their booth (reflected in Form 17) but also a prediction of the number of votes their party would get in their assessment.
