The Telangana Police has warned that stringent action will be taken against anyone who misbehaves with or tries to target against police or other government officials deployed on Telangana Municipal election duty.

In a statement issued on Friday (February 13, 2026), Director General of Police, B. Shivadhar Reddy made it clear that illegal acts targeting personnel engaged in the conduct of elections would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said officers and staff are working tirelessly to ensure the electoral process is carried out in accordance with the law, and any attempt to abuse, assault or obstruct them in the discharge of their duties would invite serious consequences.

“No one is above the law, be it public representatives, candidates or political party workers, and that if officers are obstructed in the performance of their duties, will face serious consequences regardless of their political party or influence,” he said.

He further said that those who have grievances against government or police personnel engaged in election duty should approach the State Election Commission or higher authorities with formal complaints. Taking the law into one’s own hands, he cautioned, will not be permitted.

The DGP also directed district Superintendents of Police and Commissioners of Police to ensure that cases registered against government and police employees are investigated promptly and appropriate action taken without delay.

Calling for cooperation, Mr. Reddy urged political leaders and party workers to adhere strictly to the rules and extend full support to election staff, particularly during the counting of votes, to ensure the process is conducted smoothly and peacefully.
