Hindu organisations protest against religious preaching at government polytechnic in Tirupati

Members representing various Hindu organisations gathered in front of Sri Venkateswara Government Polytechnic (SVGP) on Kapila Theertham Road here on Saturday and staged a demonstration against a contract lecturer for making religious preachings in the classroom.

In a video that went viral on social media platforms, the lecturer, identified as Madhavi, was seen writing Telugu text on the green board, equating Jesus Christ to parents and siblings. The video was apparently shot by one of the students in the classroom.

Activists belonging to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal reached the college and demanded the college management and the district administration to initiate disciplinary action against the lecturer for delivering sermons in a public institution. They also demanded action from the NDA alliance government to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Meanwhile, TTD’s trust board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy demanded the government to oust the contract employee, for failing to draw a line between personal life and professional ethics. “She can sit at home and pray, but using the classroom for the same and making the students her audience is unpardonable. The government should immediately initiate disciplinary action against her,” he demanded.
