The one-day strike by app-based taxi services – Ola, Rapido and Uber – hit private transport services in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday (February 7, 2026).

Many autos, bikes and taxis were seen parked at bus and railway stations and other public places in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and other cities in the State.

In response to the nation-wide strike call given by various unions, the auto, bike and taxi drivers observed strike. Drivers are not accepting the orders placed by the customers.

Operators of the app-based transport services are demanding implementation of minimum base fare, a check on illegal transport vehicles among other demands.

The Central and the State Governments should fix minimum fare for Ola, Uber and Rapido transport services, take steps to check unauthorised transporters and arbitrary fares during night hours.

“There is no minimum fare for online taxi services causing severe loss to the operators. We are transporting three persons for just ₹80 up 2km and above distances. We request fixation of the minimum base fare,” said a Rapido operator E. Rambabu of Visakhapatnam.

“The fares during day and the night hours are the same on a bike. We are providing transport services up to 5 km from bus and railway stations for ₹100 at midnight,” said a bike operator Ramakrishna.

Passengers were put to severe inconvenience, particularly at the railway and bus stations, hotels, malls and other places since dawn on Saturday (February 6, 2026).

“I tried to book an auto thrice from Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada, to go to my home. But the operators were not accepting the orders,” said a passenger D. Sailaja.
