The Tamil Nadu government has issued orders on Wednesday to provide relief to the tune of ₹111.96 crore to farmers, whose crops in about 56,226 hectares were affected during the Northeast monsoon and Ditwah cyclone during 2025-26, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Minister rejected the contentions made by PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss a few days ago criticizing the State government. He said that relief to the tune of ₹289.63 crore has been distributed to farmers whose crops in 2.29 lakh hectare were affected during the Northeast monsoon in 2024 and in 2025.
Criticising the erstwhile AIADMK regime over sanctioning relief for farmers, the Minister said it was the DMK government that has provided relief to the tune of ₹1,631.53 crore to over 20.84 lakh affected farmers during the past four years.
Mr. Panneerselvam listed out the various measures undertaken by the DMK government towards the welfare of farmers and criticised the erstwhile AIADMK regime, when he claimed that the agricultural production was less.
