A 25-year-old auto driver was stabbed to death late on Sunday (December 14, 2025) night following an argument at an auto stand in Tolichowki, with police booking a case against another auto driver who fled the scene after the attack.
“The deceased, Mohammad Irfan, and the accused, Mohammad Bilal, were known to each other and had an altercation around 2-3 years ago allegedly over speeding. After that incident, they were not in contact,” police said.
Over 800 booked for drunk driving in Cyberabad and Hyderabad weekend drives
According to Tolichowki Inspector L. Ramesh Naik, the dispute resurfaced recently after Irfan’s brother, Adnan, allegedly made remarks suggesting that Bilal’s wife was travelling around with another man in an auto. Angered by the comments, Bilal went to confront Adnan at his residence in Hakeem Shah Colony. When Adnan was not found there, Bilal proceeded to the nearby auto stand.
At the auto stand, Bilal came across Irfan, leading to a fresh argument between the two. Police said Irfan began following Bilal, apparently to ensure that his brother was not harmed. The verbal altercation soon escalated, and around 10.30 p.m., Bilal allegedly stabbed Irfan with a knife at the auto stand. Irfan succumbed to his injuries, while Bilal escaped from the spot.
The Tolichowki police booked a case against the accused Bilal, and police said efforts are under way to trace and arrest him.
