Rahul Mamkootathil’s staff member, driver named accused

The Thiruvananthapuram City police on Friday named Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil’s personal staff member and driver as accused in the case pertaining to the sexual exploitation of a woman.

The police stated that the duo, Fazal and Alwin, allegedly abetted the legislator’s escape and facilitated his travel to Bengaluru where he is suspected to be on the run. Both were released after questioning. The investigation team has also seized the MLA’s car.

The duo had been detained by the special investigation team for a day at the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner’s office. Their relatives subsequently lodged a complaint with the State Police Chief. They alleged that the duo had been taken into illegal custody and that the police had failed to inform the family about their whereabouts.
