Two personnel were injured when an irate mob attacked a vehicle of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district, 23 km south of the capital, on Friday. The vehicle was also severely damaged in the incident.

The incident occurred in the New Market area of Bishalgarh town. The injured jawans were admitted to the hospital and later discharged after treatment.

Police said they have launched an investigation, but could not confirm any arrests so far.

They said people got angry after the BSF vehicle hit a private car which subsequently collided with an e-rickshaw. Police said the attackers are being identified with the help of CCTV footage.

Senior BSF officers inquired about the incident and were in touch with the police. BSF sources said despite getting attacked, the troops did not resort to action, considering it may harm innocent people at the spot of the incident.
