ACB cracks whip on SROs across Andhra Pradesh

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday (November 5) organised simultaneous surprise checks at 12 Sub-Registrar Offices (SRO) spread across the State. Officials found unaccounted cash at some of the SROs and the same was seized for verification.

According to an official release by the ACB, the surprise checks were conducted at SROs at Jagadamba Centre, Pedagantyada and Madhurawada of Visakhapatnam, Bhogapuram of Vizianagaram, Ibrahimpatnam of NTR, Narasaraopeta of Palnadu, Ongole of Prakasam, Stone House Pet of Nellore, Renigunta of Chittoor, Rajampeta of Kadapa, Chilamattoor of Anantapur and Allagadda of Nandyal districts on the allegations and petitions received in ACB.

“During searches, unaccounted amount was found at Bhogapuram, Jagadamba Centre, Ibrahimpatnam, Ongole, Nellore, Narasaraopet SROs and the amount ranged from ₹10,000 to ₹75,000. The source and ownership of the amounts is under verification,” the release said.

Further, various records, documents relating to anywhere registration, violations in registration, documents kept pending for registration, registered documents not issued to the parties, registration of prohibited properties, non-judicial stamp papers sales registers and relevant records maintained in the above SROs is being verified thoroughly, the release said and added that the searches are under progress.

Officials said the exact unaccounted amount seized and action taken against any government official can be revealed only after the verification process is over.
