Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that the government could effectively tackle cyclone Montha with a commendable team spirit and said it should continue in the future as well.

Felicitating Cyclone Montha Fighters at his camp office on Saturday (November 1, 2025), Mr. Naidu said he was thankful to everyone who helped in mitigating the impact of Montha and appreciated the coordination between the government officials and people’s representatives.

He stated that the experience gained from the manner in which cyclone Montha has been dealt with would be compiled into a manual. It would be helpful in managing such natural disasters in the future.

Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh regularly faces two major problems: drought in the Rayalaseema region and cyclones in coastal districts. Drought in Rayalaseema was almost eliminated through efficient water management, while on cyclones, he observed that a dedicated team of skilled officers was deputed to take precautionary measures and undertake Relief and Rehabilitation (R&R) of the affected people.

Using Artificial Intelligence, the team of officialstackled the calamity efficiently by adopting a five-pronged strategy of continuously monitoring the cyclone movement, disseminating regular alerts, devising a rescue mechanism, rehabilitating the affected people on time, and by properly planning restoration measures.

“Rainfall, wind intensity, and other parameters were tracked from a very early stage. As a result, the government could prevent large-scale loss of life and property,” the CM noted.

Further, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said a total of 602 drones were deployed to keep a watch on the R&R activity. This formed part of a Standard Operating Procedure that encompassed the usage of data from satellites and CCTV cameras and alerts from the grassroots.

The Real Time Governance Centre was in the thick of action and the NDRF and SDRF have contributed to the rescue and relief measures along with the State police, he said, adding that a village-level alert system would be launched soon.

Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha, Kandula Durgesh, Vasamsetti Subhash and Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand was among those present.

The CM presented mementos and certificates to 137 officials and non – officials who made the best efforts in rescuing people and supporting them after the cyclone crossed the A.P. coast.
