The seventh edition of the ‘For Your Eyes Only’ quiz hosted by Rajan Eye Care Hospital (RECH) and Rotary Rajan Eye Bank (RREB) was held at the hospital in Nungambakkam, as part of the National Eye Donation Fortnight.

More than 200 youngsters tested their knowledge of eye health, optic anatomy, corneal transplantation, and eye donation in the preliminary round, which was held online.

While 25 quizzers advanced to the in-person semifinals, six finalists took part in the grand finale curated by quizmasters Arvind Rajeev and Mahesh Ramgopal of XQuizIt. Dev Arvind of PSBB Nungambakkam won first place.

S. Vasanthi, principal of PSBB Nungambakkam, and Poornima Karthik, president, Rotary Club of Madras T. Nagar, commended the hospital for sustaining the quiz for seven years.

Director, RREB, Sujatha Mohan highlighted the importance of eye donation. She pointed out that when celebrities publicly pledge to donate their eyes, it creates a powerful ripple effect that helps further the cause.

Chairman and medical director, RECH, Mohan Rajan, spoke extensively about the rising epidemic of childhood myopia and its severe long-term impact on vision, cautioning students against the prolonged use of mobile phones. He said the prolonged use of smaller screens are taking a heavy toll on young eyes, said a press release here.
