Bengaluru: Krishi Mela sees highest ever footfall: 54.15 lakh farmers and public visit the fair

The four-day Krishi Mela – 2025 in Bengaluru that concluded on Sunday saw the highest footfall ever for any Krishi Mela, with a record footfall of 54.15 lakh and a business of ₹5.17 crore. On Sunday, a record 17.92 lakh farmers and the public visited the Mela as it concluded. Starting with 8.51 lakh visitors on day one, it successively peaked with 11.85 lakh on day two and 15.87 lakh on day three.

The Mela saw a footfall of over 34 lakh last year.

At the closing ceremony of the Mela, the Dr. M.H. Marigowda State Level Best Horticultural Farmer Award was awarded to farmer Manjunath B.R., of Bidiganahalli village, Devanahalli taluk, Bangalore Rural District, and Dr. R. Dwarakeenath State Level Best Farmer Award was presented to H.L. Govindappa of Housing Board Colony, H.D. Kote taluk, Mysuru district.

Agriculture Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy said the farmers were not just food producers, but should also generate employment. “We need to strengthen our farmers towards this,” he said. 

Remembering Saalumarada Thimmakka, who passed away recently, the Minister said that farmers should cultivate in harmony with nature. “In this regard, Saalumarada Thimmakka’s life path should become a model for today’s generation. Let us preserve the health of the soil, conserve water, practice eco-friendly farming and leave fertile land for the next generation,” he said.

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda Krishi Mela was indeed a science fair. “The active participation of farmers, particularly women farmers, the guidance of scientists, all these have filled the Krishi Mela with life. Farmers should adopt the new technologies and techniques displayed in this Mela and become prosperous,” he said.
