Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 789 cases during a special enforcement drive against drunk driving and speeding conducted across the city between March 30 and April 5.

The week-long operation saw personnel from 53 traffic police stations conducting checks across key junctions and arterial roads.

During the crackdown on drunk driving, officials checked 42,558 vehicles and booked 638 cases against motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.

In a parallel drive targeting speeding, police registered 151 cases and collected fines amounting to ₹1.52 lakh.

Officials said the initiative was aimed at curbing violations that pose serious risks to road users and ensuring safer commuting conditions in Bengaluru.

The traffic police added that such special drives will continue in the coming weeks as part of sustained enforcement efforts to improve road safety.
