A cataract surgery machine worth ₹26 lakh was inaugurated at the Ophthalmology Department of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad on Monday.

The equipment was donated under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), with support from the Hyderabad Mavericks Rotary Club. Hospital authorities said the new machine would significantly improve the capacity to perform cataract surgeries, particularly for poor and needy patients who depend on free or subsidised treatment.

“The addition of advanced surgical technology will enhance the quality and efficiency of ophthalmic care, helping reduce the burden of preventable blindness among economically weaker sections,” said a release from the hospital.
