The 7th World Thirukkural Conference was held at the St. Joseph’s University in Bengaluru on July 5. The conference aimed to celebrate the timeless wisdom of Thiruvalluvar and promote scholarly discussions on the literary, ethical, social, cultural, and contemporary relevance of the Thirukkural.

The event was organised jointly by St. Joseph’s University and the Thiruvalluvar Sangam. Over 3,000 persons attended the event. Prominent among them were scientist Mylswamy Annadurai, St Joseph’s University Pro-Chancellor Christo Selvan, Head of the Department of Indian Languages Arulmani, and Sri Lankan Members of Parliament Sritharan and Sreenath.

Around 60 researchers from across India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, and other countries presented their research papers on Thirukkural.

The book World peace and humanistic values by Thirukkural was released at the conference. A resolution was passed in the conference urging the Central Government to declare Thirukkural as a national book.
