YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders staged a candlelight demonstration at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue on M.G. Road here on Sunday, demanding justice for the families of those who died in the stampede at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Kasibugga in Srikakulam district on November 1 (Saturday)

Speaking on the occasion, YSRCP NTR district president Devineni Avinash said there was no safety for devotees in temples and alleged that while people were dying, the government was indulging in diversionary politics. He said people were closely watching the developments and would hold those responsible accountable for the deaths.

Former Minister Velampalli Srinivas alleged that the government was trying to evade responsibility for the Kasibugga temple tragedy. Party leaders Malladi Vishnu, Lella Appi Reddy, T. Nageswara Rao, P.V. Mahesh and others were present.
