HYDERABAD
A delegation of Telangana Congress MPs met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Wednesday, seeking faster clearance of key railway projects and infrastructure works in the State.
The delegation, comprising Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi and Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar, discussed pending railway projects, station upgrades and public infrastructure needs.
Mr. Vamsi Krishna sought an update on the proposed ₹4,000-crore Ramagundam-Manuguru railway line and urged the Minister to expedite the project. He said the line would boost industrial and commercial activity in Ramagundam, Peddapalli and Mancherial regions.
The MP also raised delays in the execution of sanctioned Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) in his constituency. He sought early release of funds and faster completion of works, citing inconvenience to the public due to waterlogging at construction sites.
Mr. Vamsi Krishna further discussed the upgradation of railway stations at Peddapalli, Ramagundam and Mancherial.
Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy urged the Railways to include Nakrekal in the proposed Hyderabad-Chennai High-Speed Rail Corridor. He suggested routing the corridor along the existing NH-65 alignment instead of a greenfield route, arguing that it would improve connectivity to towns and commercial centres and benefit a larger population in the Bhongir Parliamentary constituency.
The delegation also met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and submitted a representation seeking approval and implementation of major road infrastructure projects in Telangana.
The MPs sought early Cabinet approval for the northern part of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (NH 161AA), approval of the southern alignment of the project and initiation of land acquisition. They also requested sanction of the Hyderabad-Amaravati-Bandar Port Greenfield Expressway and a four-lane elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam on NH-765.
The MPs said the proposed projects would strengthen Telangana’s connectivity, logistics network and economic growth and urged their early clearance.
