Former minister and YSRCP senior leader Dharmana Prasada Rao on Monday alleged that the State government was intentionally ignoring 30% pending works of Mulapeta seaport, taken up during the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy administration. Along with party senior leaders Botcha Satyanarayana, Dharmana Krishna Das, Reddi Shanti, Varudu Kalyani and others, he visited the seaport area and addressed a large public meeting organised by the party near Naupada junction in Srikakulam district.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that former chief minister Mr. Jagan fulfilled the dream of the people by constructing the Mulapeta seaport and ensured completion of 70% works during his regime. However, he alleged that despite the NDA government being in power for the past two years the remaining works were not taken up.

Mr. Satyanarayana said that the Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu and Minister for Agriculture K. Atchannaidu and others have failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people. YSRCP regional In-charge Kurasala Kanna Babu alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu did not construct a single seaport in the State in his previous terms. Earlier, tension prevailed as the party took out a rally from Srikakulam to Mulapeta in Santabommali mandal, Tekkali constituency, which is represented by Mr. Atchannaidu.

The leaders expressed displeasure over the unprecedented deployment of police personnel at Mulapeta, Naupada junction, Tekkali and other places. The party mobilised leaders and activists from different parts of North Andhra region including Vizianagaram and Srikakulam to highlight the inordinate delay in the construction of the seaport. Party leaders such as former minister Sidiri Appala Raju, Srikakulam ZP chairperson Piriya Vijaya, former MLA Piriya Sairaj former municipal chairman of Srikakulam M.V.Padmavati Konark Srinu, Mandavilli Ravi, Mentada Swaroop and others were present.
