A 21-year-old youth drowned in the Bhima when he went to swim in Padanur village in Bagalkot district on Sunday.
Anil Kumar Pujari went to swim early morning. When he did not return, his family members alerted his friends who went looking for him on the riverbanks. They found his bike and clothes and intimated the police.
The police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel have with assistance from local fishermen launched efforts to retrieve the body.
