Parts of Kerala, especially the southern and central region including the hilly tracts bordering the Western Ghats will continue to experience isolated heavy showers for the next five days, triggered by the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday, a low-pressure area persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast with associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards during the next 24 hours.

Additionally, another low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22. The system will become more marked during the subsequent 48 hours while moving west-northwestwards, enhancing the rainfall activity over Kerala.

A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Malappuram on Tuesday, where isolated heavy rainfall is likely during the next 24 hours.
