Burglars decamped with 60 sovereigns of gold jewellery, two kg of silver objects and ₹15,000 cash from the house of a retired schoolteacher in Tirupattur town on Sunday.

K. Manohar, 66, a retired schoolteacher, was living with his family in the town for the past few years. Initial inquiry revealed that along with his family members, Manohar went to Chennai to attend his relative’s function a few days ago. When he returned from Chennai, Manohar noticed the door lock damaged. He checked and found valuables missing.
