Union Minister of State for MSMEs Shobha Karandlaje has accused the Congress government in Karnataka of failing to ensure women’s security amidst leadership tussle.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Friday, Ms. Karandlaje alleged that rapes, sexual assaults and other crimes against women had increased in the last two years in the State. In fact, the State had witnessed more than 1,800 cases of sexual assault against women in the last two years, he alleged.

The Union Minister alleged that the police officials were not getting postings without payment of bribes to political bosses. Also, this payment is only for a duration of 10 months, she said, while maintaining that such a trend had crushed the confidence of police force.
