A 63-year-old woman was killed in a car accident at Ramanattukara on Sunday (October 5). The victim has been identified as Jameela Meppayil.
Six other passengers in the car, including three children, sustained serious injuries in the crash. The police said the speeding vehicle rammed into the rear of a parked tourist bus on the roadside.
The accident occurred around 7 a.m. when the group was returning to their home in Kakkur after picking up a family member from the Kozhikode International Airport. The front portion of the car was completely destroyed in the impact.
According to police sources, the driver—who reportedly failed to notice the parked bus—was rescued from the spot in a critical condition. All the injured have been admitted to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, police said.
